So now that the election is over (whew), I’m back with all of the in’s and out’s of living in the nation’s capital. Whether it’s the latest fashion trend or a hole-in-the-wall restaurant I’m bringing to light, best believe I’ll find it. Continue on to see what I’m discovering in our last month of 2012, and if that excites you (or you just want to catch more of my quirky style thoughts) check out my ever-growing collection of the fast-paced D.C. in my collection on Oh That’s You.

Style_Jay93Partake? Now that the weather is cold, head down to Pentagon Row to enjoy some ice skating.
Style_Jay93Inspiration? Rihanna this month has been everywhere, and we are LOVING her new album.
Style_Jay93Wear? Time to get out the party holiday outfits people. It’s time to party right, the D.C. way.
Style_Jay93Taste? Try the best pizza in the city. It’ll have you asking when’s the next time you come visit the capital? :)
Style_Jay93Shop? There’s an amazing place called “It’s Vintage Darling” founded right here in D.C. that has amazing vintage finds at a fraction of what you’d pay at a retail store.

All eyes are on D.C. right now with the upcoming presidential election, so what better time to have Oh That’s You contributor, Jame‘, tell us all about what to do in the nation’s capital throughout November? Read on for her favorite neighborhood, the best restaurant in town and more. Keep an eye on Jame’s collection for more updates on the D.C. life throughout the month!

Style_Jay93Where to shop? D.C. offers many places to pick up the latest hot pieces, but a great place we all start is Georgetown, which can definitely remind you of New York on the weekends!
Style_Jay93This November, we’re partaking in the election. Whether your’e out teaching the importance of getting registered or just counting down the days to cast your ballot, the nation’s capital is actively involved.
Style_Jay93Lately, I’ve drawn a lot of fashion inspiration from the amazing artwork you’ll see throughout D.C. Many of them have societal and political relevance and teaches us all artwork conveys more than just pictures.
Style_Jay93With Halloween right around the corner, we’re enjoying dressing up and expressing ourselves in fun ways! But when the weather shifts, throw on a cute scarf and we’re on the go!
Style_Jay93D.C. has so many cultural restaurants and places to grab food. A favorite amongst many locals is Adams Morgan, which offers everything under the sun.

Welcome to the 2012 Style Olympics, where each OTY contributor is weighing in on fashion in their hometowns and how it has effected their personal style. Don’t forget to stay tuned for more this week!

Growing up in the D.C. Metropolitan area and now attending college right in the heart of the city means you never miss out on a fashion beat. Washington D.C. is truly up-and-coming in regards to its style credibility and effect on the fashion world. Although there are some dominating trends you may see here, the stores are really your oysters in the nation’s capitol.

For me, growing up in such a diverse and culturally affluent area has effected my personal style by making it very carefree and laid back. I don’t restrict myself to fashion trends or high price points, I simply wear what I want. You’ll often see me sporting a $2 shirt from the thrift store paired with $170 Jeffrey Campbell shoes. It is for this reason no one word explains my style – it changes daily.
