This month is an exciting time to be in Kuala Lumpur and I’m so happy to be home this year for the holidays. On Dec 8, I’ll be heading to Heineken Thirst 2012 held at Sepang International Circuit (yes, that’s where Formula 1 races are held too!) to witness headlining acts Avicii and Above & Beyond. Since it’s also my first tropical Christmas in three years, I’ll be taking in all the Christmas decoration this city has to offer. For the festivities as well as my birthday, I’ll be shopping at Zalora.com for their amazing holiday sales, so I can bring on the bling with various sequined dresses. Finally, apart from the usual Christmas-themed food, I’ll be tucking into my favorite meal of all time: soft shell crab pasta cooked with butter and a hint of curry. Nothing like a yummy fusion meal to kick-start the holidays! For more, keep up with my “When Fashion and Food Collide” collection on OTY.

Unless you’re lucky enough to live in a sunny climate, you know that layering is key to staying warm in winter. Wearing multiple layers doesn’t mean that you have to hide your figure or end up looking like the Michelin man. Here are my top tips on how to layer in a flattering way to suit your body type.

With Halloween just a few days away, you’ve probably got your costume sorted whether you’re going the DIY route or  you purchased one. October 31st may only come once a year, but that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate our love for all of our favorite horror film characters the other 364 days of the year. With the runways taking inspiration from the darker side,  now is the ideal time to channel scary movies.

Low and behold, there are less than 30 days until the 6th of November. And since 2012 is a presidential election year, we definitely have politics on our minds. Don’t worry though, we’re not going to push a political agenda, just a fashionable one. In honor of the United States’ 57th ballot race, we thought we would take a look at the most stylish power players this world has seen. Sorry fellas, looks like the ladies of politics have you beat in this poll. Whether standing by their husband’s side or ruling on their own, these women of history have illustrated what it means to be leader, all while exhibiting great style.

Some runway trends don’t make it from the catwalk onto the streets because they just aren’t practical for everyday life. You would think the crop top would fall into this category, but this has not proven to be the case. The trend was eagerly embraced by the likes of celebrities and us “regular” fashionistas. From Gwyneth Paltrow’s sliver of stomach at the Emmy’s to Kirsten Stewart’s cropped white tee at Comic-Con, it seems as if we all can’t get enough of an unexpected flash of tum. Don’t have the toned abs of Rihanna that only come with long cardio sessions and complex dance routines? You needn’t worry – this isn’t the late 1990s belly baring style favored by the Spice Girls and a young Britney Spears. This time around, the trend is about showing a hint of skin for a more subtle and classy reincarnation than its fully exposed predecessor. Before you start taking scissors to every top you own, read on to discover the best styles for your age, plus what to pair them with. That way, you can avoid looking like you’re going to a pop star themed costume party.

Travel Diary: Bangkok, Thailand

Sawadeeka! For all of you non-Thai speaking folks, that’s “hello” in English. Bangkok, we’ve seen it depicted as a buzzing, culture-filled city (with dangerous, thrilling events thanks to The Hangover 2) but for those who have yet to travel to this amazing metropolis, it can also be the ultimate vacation destination for you and the girls! Here’s why:

America, land of the free, home of the brave, cool, independent fashion brand – if you know the right places to look. Finding a “Made in the USA” tag when shopping nowadays is almost as difficult as getting your hands on an infamous Birkin bag. But fear not, my friends, in honor of Independence Day I’ve scouted out four brands (from a luxe jeweler in Kentucky to an indie label in Illinois) who design, manufacture and sell their products right here in the United States. I don’t know about you guys, but when it comes to putting together an outfit, I feel much better (and I admit, slightly patriotic) wearing pieces that were made with integrity on my own home turf. So why not opt for an alternative to the traditional red, white and blue this 4th of July and support a fellow American? One that happens to make some pretty stylish stuff as well…

It’s that time of the year again. Throw on your red, white and blue – we’re celebrating America’s 236th birthday!

I know it’s second nature to slip into the old flag-printed t-shirt, but I’m not letting you take the easy route out this time. No matter how you’ll be celebrating, there’s a chic way to do red, white and blue without crossing into tacky territory. Whether you’re attending a rowdy pool party with friends, a laid-back barbecue with the fam, or romantic fireworks with the boyfriend, I have all of the preparations for standing out as the most stylish American at your event of choice.
