My social calendar tends to explode at this time of year, and switching up ensembles (what seems like two dozen times a week) becomes an added challenge on top of all that holiday shopping and cheer to be had. Believe me, this one has you covered for everything from that fancy corporate soiree to a fun night out with your besties. OTYBlog“I like to keep my holiday attire festive but playful with a pink, black and gold color palette.”

New York City during the holidays is my absolute favorite. There’s something about walking down fifth avenue in December that is just so cliche but also equally magical. This month, I will definitely be doing the must-see’s, like the NYC Ballet’s Nutcracker and the holiday shops at Columbus Circle. On top of that I’ll be hitting up my favorite LES resto and staying in to watch a few indie flicks during the cold city nights. Read on for more and don’t forget to check out my local’s guide to NYC on Oh That’s You.

kmullinsPARTAKE: The NYC Ballet’s Nutcracker is a must-see in December. You can score $30 tickets if you order early enough…
kmullinsINSPIRED: Just watched the indie movie Electrick Children the other day. A refreshing, youthful storyline for a cold night in!
All I Want for Christmas Is A Birkin, How About You?

Okay, so maybe a Birkin is a little out of my league, but how about a PS13? (Proenza Schouler’s latest it-bag in the making). Or a leather jacket with tiger-printed sleeves by Phillip Lim? (Yes, it’s as awesome as it sounds). Perhaps a pair of Givenchy’s that can (and will) literally, knock ‘em dead? Or maybe some spunky ear adornments by Tom Binns would do the trick?

You can’t blame a girl for wanting to play pretend every once and a while, especially when it comes to writing that letter to Santa once a year. So here you have it: my ultimate luxury wish list for the holidays.

I’m going to need your help, though. (My stylish little shopping elves bailed on me yet again). After you take a peek at the lust-worthy list, answer my question on OTY here by telling me what your choice would be if you could score any present this holiday season. If your answers are good, I may feature them on the blog later this week! Happy imaginary shopping, my friends.

Style Radar: Choix

Do you ever get overwhelmed shopping online? Like, there’s too much possibility to sort through on a site and the stress of it all just causes you to slam the laptop shut for good (or at least the next ten minutes). Although not a terrible problem to have, too many options leads to the conundrum of never feeling satisfied with your final choice.

Coincidentally, my latest e-find, Choix (literally translated to “choice” from French) is a well-curated online boutique of quirky sweaters, artisan jewelry and feminine frocks that completely proves the value of a good eye. Stocking a great selection of special, under $100 pieces, this place is a gold mine for holiday gifts. (You’re welcome).

“Oxblood” is the word on every editor’s lips this season, but has it been your go-to hue for fall? Cobalt is definitely the color for me right now (as it compliments my blonde hair) but sartorially curious, as always, I decided to consult the Oh That’s You editors to find out which color palettes they plan on rocking throughout the colder months. Tell us your color of choice by dropping a comment here and we’ll see which truly deserves to be the reigning hue of fall 2012.

Cobalt is my new color-obsession this fall. What's yours?

Given that baroque and opulence are major trends, gold is my color of choice for fall. I will be dressing it down for day with biker boots and choosing pieces with relaxed silhouettes and pairing it with gold jewelry of course!

I really love Oxblood this season. It looks expensive, and unlike other darker fall shades it doesn’t wash out my typically pale British complexion. It’s such a wearable hue and even a head to toe oxblood outfit would look gorgeous!

I’ve got to go with hunter green. It mixes in well with my current fall/winter wardrobe, acting a neutral that is outside of my usual gray/brown comfort zone. I originally discovered this shade with Essie’s Stylenomics, and from there I was addicted.

I remember with dark greens were as common as navy blue back in the 90s, and it seems that trend is cycling back. The shades I prefer lean more toward the jewel tones, which have the special ability of being both bright and somewhat neutral. I like to wea

Despite its name, oxblood is my favorite fall hue of the season. It is just dramatic enough to make a statement without being your typical vibrant red. I love it.

This fall, my favorite hue is army green. I love how it gives off a subtle toughness yet it’s versatile enough for feminine pieces. This fall, I’m looking forward to wearing this hue with leather.

Style Radar: Cast of Vices

The likes of LiLo and Cat Marnell may have tried (and failed) to make flaunting your vices cool over the summer, but whatever your guilty pastimes of choice may be (questionable substance abuse, frisky activity, overindulgences in chocolate, coffee, etc.) it’s now officially in to flaunt them thanks to Cast of Vices. Trust me, you won’t be risking looking like another blonde-train-wreck-wannabe with these guys.

Although the pricing on the highlight of the current collection (a $245 necklace depicting a fly on a Corona cap) may be a bit superfluous, that’s the beautiful irony of it all, my friends. Plus, they get serious brownie points for having my favorite male model of all time as a supporter.

OTY Fashion Editor, Kelly, has her finger on the pulse of all things New York – whether it’s the latest pop up shop or a hidden restaurant discovered in one of Manhattan’s many neighborhoods.  Read on to see what she’ll be up to in November, and for even more, check out her live updates to NYC in her collection on Oh That’s You.

kmullinsSHOP: Shop Bauble Bar’s jewelry in person at “The Bar” on 230 5th Avenue, Suite 610.
kmullinsPARTAKE: “Discovering Columbus” is a new interactive statue exhibit in my neighborhood by Tatzu Nishi.
kmullinsINSPIRED: Last month, I saw “Incessant Visions” at the Architecture & Design Film Festival. The story of Erich Mendelsohn is one to hear.
kmullinsWEAR: I’m all about the metallic loafers I just purchased from ShoeMint. Will definitely be wearing them out for November.
kmullinsTASTE: I stumbled upon this old fashioned resto called “Say Cheese” on 83rd Street the other day. Will definitely be going back to sample more of this cheesy menu.
Style Radar: Zuneta

Created on http://ohthatsyou.com

I’m not much of a makeup junkie, but when our OTY Beauty editor, Emily, tipped me off about Zuneta, I was actually psyched. For someone like me who tends to stick to the basics (foundation, blush, black liner) it was cool to be able to watch a tutorial video as I was shopping the products to learn how to wear them correctly. And even if you’re still not sure after that, head to their “Ask” section to submit your own personal beauty Q’s. Now that’s online shopping.

I spotted a few of my favorite brands (Korres, Malin + Goetz) right away along with a whole slew of newbies. This is definitely the place to go the next time you want to make a well-informed beauty splurge.
